Successful YA Spinoffs

This week I wrote a couple items for Heroes & Heartbreakers. The first was speculation on the upcoming Karen Marie Moning novel Iced. The second pertains more to readership here. It focuses on the surge of YA spinoff novels of late and some of my favorites.

It’s not that we don’t see spinoff series with adult titles. We most absolutely do, but not with the frequency or expedience seen in the young adult market of late. As soon as the series ends—be that in three books or six—a new story rises in the same world focusing on secondary characters.
