I had an absolute blast at last year’s NOLA StoryCon, and the 2017 event is looking to be even better. I’m not just saying this because I’m a featured author this year (though, I would love to see your faces!). The venue got beefed up. The author list keeps getting better—Christine Feehan, Darynda Jones, and Kiera Cass were all added to the list recently. Go read the full author lineup, I’ll wait.

Right. So. A weekend in New Orleans with your favorite urban fantasy and paranormal romance authors is something you should do. Get tickets now, because they sold out last year and they will again. Double bonus: NOLA is not sticky in September. (I have been to NOLA in May, June and August. Trust me. September is nice.)

In addition to the event itself, you have the option to add on city tours. These are led by professional tour guides, but hosted by authors. Alyssa Day and I are hosting one to discover more about music’s roots in New Orleans. The title says Jazz, but I’m on the tour, so expect me to inject some insights about rock, blues, punk rock, a touch of industrial (Nine Inch Nails, anyone?) and maybe heavy metal (fun fact: Phil Anselmo is from NOLA). I don’t talk about it too much, but I worked as a professional music journalist for several years. I am stuffed with fun facts.

If you want to join Alyssa and I on a musical tour of New Orleans, you can get your ticket for Musical History of New Orleans here. Again, these will sell out. Hint hint.

It would be odd to write a post about music and not include any. So here’s a song from my current writing playlist, “Take Back the Power” by The Interrupters.
