I’m very excited to announced I am now represented by Cheryl Pientka of Jill Grinberg Literary Management.
While my smirky face might be to the left, the reality is I’m a whole lot more like Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) in this moment.
Basically, this is my reaction:
For those not familiar with the publishing business, a literary agent works as your manager. She is responsible for finding a publisher for your book and negotiating the best deal.
Cheryl read my YA sci-fi Cloud Nine and loved it. (Actually, she wasn’t the only agent, but she was the right one.) It’s one thing to have your friends tell you the book is good, it’s another to have agents calling you on the phone and saying nice things.
Really that whole “the call” thing was mostly me doing this before and after every phone conversation:

Now that I get to share my exciting news—the first big step toward getting published—how should we celebrate? I think instead of me saying this over and over, I should giveaway some stellar books.
